This Is What Happens When You Take on a 10 km Challenge Without Any Prep

A spontaneous decision turned into a test of strength, stamina, and mindset.

So recently, I ran 10 km.

It was a marathon event. But I wasn’t part of the 21 km or 42 km categories.

I was in the noob 10 km category.

First thing — back in 2020 or 2021, I had listed my health goals. One of them was to run 5 km or 10 km in one go. I also had a goal of running a marathon.

The crazy part is, I wasn’t actually trying for this.

I had to run, but I wasn’t actively working towards it.

My friend Zubair had been training for this. He’d been at it for the past two years — 2022 and 2023.

He pushed me to participate in the Decathlon Marathon, which was very casual and easy. It wasn’t distance-bound. Just running for an hour nonstop.

I managed to hit 8 km in that Decathlon Marathon.

But this time, it was different.

I was in the Maha Marathon. It happens once a year and is probably one of the biggest running events in our city.

And I don’t know if you’ll trust me on this… But I was completely unprepared.
